Topic: Ending “Stupid Parent” Syndrome – Part II — Do your children roll their eyes, refuse to listen, argue with you, or just write you off as stupid? Join Sandy and Eva as they take a good humored look at how our children may be right, and what steps you can take to avoid succumbing to the dreaded “Stupid Parent” syndrome.
You can ask questions or just listen on this conference call with our Language of Listening™ experts. We’ve all had our moments. You might be surprised at how easy it can be to turn this around.

Ask Questions Ahead: You can ask questions or leave comments when registering for the call. If you think of something later, you can post your thoughts or questions, challenges or successes, at the bottom of this page or email them to us before the call. Please include the child’s age if relevant.

I am so excited about this teleclass. I live in north texas and can’t make it to any of the live events. Thank you!
Here are two questions that were submitted for the Oct 8 call on self-control:
5 year-old using fists with a “fire in her eye” when upset. 10 year-old acting “stressed” and raising her voice in fury, proceeding to louder commands “Stop it!” “Just stop it (whatever sister is doing) NOW!” and progressing to sobbing. How to help them each calm down? (Sometimes they’re acting against each other, sometimes it’s toward me.)
My children, 7 and 8, have learned self-soothing and self control techniques at home (blankets; reading in room). My challenge is to help them discover ways to gain self-control when out in the world (breathing and praying work for me but my son in particular gets his feelings hurt and doesn’t know how to calm down when the tears start to flow).
For the Nov 12 call, we’ve gotten some great questions from parents with 8-10 year olds at both ends of the risk spectrum, one about a child giving up on math homework, and another about a 3.5 year-old with meltdowns. Should be an interesting discussion.
For the December call we’ve gotten a number of great questions: relatives with different ideas about presents and boundaries; how to keep the innocence in the season; kids always wanting more; getting kids to help clean up; kids who whine, push, hit. Hope you can join us for this lively solution-oriented hour.
Our January call was such a success that we decided to add Part II for February. If you are outside of the USA or just can’t join the live call, register anyway and get the downloadable recording afterwards. It’s the next best thing to being there!
