Happy Holidays

Do anger, frustration and disappointment take the joy out of your holidays or any celebrations? What can you say or do to make a difference?

Coaches: Sandy Blackard and Eva Sim-Zabka

Team Members: Adrian Ionescu

Sandy and Eva discuss timely parenting questions and lead callers through some self-inquiry. Solutions include looking for the greatness in each other as a seasonal goal; finding greatness in others’ wishes; standing up for yourself; using special occasions to meet your child’s wants and needs and yours; why wanting new things can be good and how to validate it without buying things; and how to head off whining, pushing and hitting.

October 8, 2011 — Self-Control

What do you say or do when your child feels out of control? Or when you do?

Coaches: Sandy Blackard and Eva Sim-Zabka

Team Members: Adrian Ionescu, Ruxandra Golea, Fiona McInally

Sandy and Eva help two parents recognize what their children need to hear to be able to develop self-control in moments of angry hitting and tears in public places. Because these parents’ Language of Listening skills are advanced, the coaching starts deep and goes deeper to reveal why these moments are so challenging.

Adrian and Ruxi share how their 2 and 4-year olds are learning self-control in recognizing danger and stopping for a car backing out of the driveway. Fiona shares how her 7 and 8-year olds learned to calm themselves at home.
