I’m Dr. Betsy Blackard, a Positive Developmental Psychologist and living proof that Language of Listening really works.

Sound different than most programs? Putting you in the lead is a completely different approach to learning, but it’s not new to us. We’ve used this approach in our coach training for years, so we’re confident about the results it produces.
The first shift you are likely to see is the most important shift of all — seeing your child with ‘new eyes.’
Along with that comes a new ease with SAY WHAT YOU SEE®, STRENGTHs, and CAN DOs that shifts your role from your child’s behavior manager to their life coach. Stepping into the role of your child’s coach puts you on their side in helping them manage themselves and solve their own problems, which, of course, brings out more of their strengths.

Lifetime Access to 101 Online Basic Coaching Skills Course ($970 value)
Your Beyond Connection Program begins with our 101 Online Basic Coaching Skills Course that you will be guided through by Dr. Betsy. The short video clips in this course introduce you to our Language of Listening® Coaching Model and the Premises behind it that you will continue to explore throughout your training.
From January through May, you’ll practice these new coaching skills week-by-week with your fellow group members supported by Dr. Betsy and our other coaches.
You’ll also receive a Study Guide and Bonus Material for self-guided learning if you want to go even deeper.
Lifetime Access to 201 Online Mastery Class ($2,000 value)
From July through November, Dr. Betsy will guide you through our 201 Online Mastery Class week-by-week. This class will help you develop a deep trust in your child’s inner guidance to turn over more and more self-direction and problem-solving to them.
The 8 modules contain audio lessons, video demonstrations, and self-reflection questions that you will complete at home and discuss with your cohort.
Our Mastery Class provides detailed instruction in THE most important coaching skill — how to follow your child’s lead inside your boundaries — and gives you hands-on practice at home in strategic Power Playtimes with your child. Power Playtime are a tool you can use for years to come to help your child work through their own challenges and connect with their strengths and you in the process.
In the first few weeks of this class, you will be directed to gather a specific set of toys. This set may seem ordinary at first glance, but it is purposely designed to facilitate a wide variety of expressive play, give you a unique window into your child’s world, and help you learn to spot patterns in their play. Keep in mind you are building a permanent playtime kit to use with your child now and in the future, so you can expect to invest anywhere from $50 to $150 or more depending on what you decide to purchase, borrow from your child’s existing toys, or make yourself.

Guided Immersion Group + Assistant Coach ($1,200 value)
The Immersion Group is the heart of your program. It will be open to you during the 10 months of your Beyond Connection Program.
In this private discussion group hosted on Facebook, you will be encouraged to post about your challenges, successes, and life at home as you try your new skills. And then the magic happens…
You will be guided to respond to each other exclusively using Language of Listening-style coaching. Under Dr. Betsy’s direction, you will proceed step-by-step into a deeper understanding of our coaching model by using it with each other. The more you post and respond, the deeper your learning goes.
Your Assistant Coach will answer your questions and keep the group on track by pointing out what you are doing right. If you haven’t experienced our Success Training yet, this part alone will amaze you and inspire you to try it at home!

Weekly Video Responses from Dr. Betsy & Our Coaches ($2,250 value)
In addition to the support our Assistant Coach provides in your Immersion Group, Dr. Betsy will monitor the group’s progress and add weekly (4 per month) video responses addressing general or specific topics of interest for the group. The more details you provide in your posts, the more specific these video responses can be.
Half of your video responses will be from Dr. Betsy or one of our Coaches. The other half will be recordings of Dr. Betsy’s group calls with members who have registered to receive Live Coaching (Level 2 membership).
Not only will you get your personal questions answered, you will gain insight watching others get coached in our signature style, and maybe even get answers to questions you didn’t realize you had!

What does the course look like? What will I actually be doing?
Two online courses, 101 Basic Coaching Skills Course and 201 Mastery Class, provide the foundation for your transformation. They give detailed instruction to change how you see your child and bring out their greatness.
You’ll practice those tools in your Immersion Group.
The Immersion Group is the heart of our Beyond Connection Program. ♥︎ In this private discussion group, you will use the new coaching skills you are learning and bring out one another’s greatness. Beyond practice, you’ll be coached by Dr. Betsy and one or more of our Coaches. You’ll experience what it feels like to be truly seen, heard, and connected with your strengths.
Experience will bring home the life-changing power of using our coaching model with your child.
This kind of immersive training organically supports your growth and development as a Language of Listening® parent and builds your confidence. As your confidence grows, you will naturally start trying your skills at home. The more coaching skills you try at home, the more challenges and successes you can bring to the group, and the deeper the training goes.
The program runs from January-November with a break in June. When your 10-month program is complete, you and your cohort can continue your discussions in our private Language of Listening® Parent Community with 6 months of free membership.
And as you engage with others at all stages of their Learning Path, you’ll realize how much you have grown, which will further build your confidence and your skills…

How long does it last?
This is a 10-month training program. The first course runs from January–May. We’ll have a break in June, and then the second course runs from July–November. After that, you’ll enjoy 6 months of free access to our Parenting Community, which you can renew for $150/year.
How much time will this take?
The online classes take no more than 1 hour per week, and then the amount of time you engage with the immersion group is really up to you! Just know that the more you engage, the more you’ll want to keep engaging — it’s fun and rewarding! And, of course, the more you’ll get out of it.

Will this work for my Deeply Feeling/Highly Sensitive/ADHD child?
Absolutely. Sensitive children especially benefit from a child-led approach that teaches the child and parent to trust the child’s inner guidance. They also benefit from being shown their strengths (and you benefit from seeing them!).
Instead of trying to manage or control their behavior, or fix them, you’ll learn how to be a responsive coach who can meet your child on their level. You’ll gain insights into why your child does whatever they do, be more able to see and accept them for exactly who they are, and learn how to coach them to find solutions for themselves. Solutions come easily when you understand the actual problem.
You’ll also learn what part of your child’s behavior is actually a reaction to you and get coaching to shift your own behavior in ways that empower you and them! That’s why our approach works for all kinds of kids — it’s about training you, not them.
Will this work with my tween/teenager?
Yes! Our approach teaches you how to meet any child, any age, at their own level — wherever that is. We give you tools to build a solid foundation of connection and understanding in your daily life that leads to less eye-rolling and more cooperation. You can then lean on this connection in the more challenging moments because you and your child will see their true, positive intention behind even the worst behaviors.
I’ve tried other parenting classes and didn’t get lasting results. How will this one be different?
Our approach takes the guesswork out of parenting. Instead of “spaghetti parenting” — throwing every trick at the wall and seeing which one sticks — you’ll have steps to take for every scenario your child throws at you. You’ll see immediate success which will be rewarding and motivate you to go even deeper!
Many other approaches stop at connection, as though “enough” connection will get your child to change their behavior. We are very clear that’s not what connection is for. You’ve seen it for yourself — trying to remain calm and be “nice” to your child even when you don’t feel that way doesn’t work for you or them.
